Ecotour of Desolation Sound

The most popular tour we offer from Campbell River has seating for up to 5 passengers and our first stop is the First Nations pictographs of Gorge Harbour on Cortes island.

After taking some of the greatest photos of coastal scenery in British Columbia we head for the prestine waters of Von Donop Inlet, continuing on down Lewis Channel for a stop at Castle Falls, this is the place to forget about the outside world and just enjoy the surroundings with all its natural beauty.

Once we park the boat at a small dock we do a short hike to Castle Lake. Next we stop for lunch in the beautiful and remote port of Refuge Cove. After soaking in the charm of its quaint shops and boardwalks we continue our journey south through beautiful desolation sound and weave through twin and Hernando islands. Next stop is the eco reserve and bird sanctuary of Mitlenatch island for some great wildlife viewing. From here we head to through Bakers Pass , Hernando Island and on to Mitlenatch Island for some wildlife viewing. Keep your camera handy as very commonly en route we find pods of pacific white side dolphins and humpback whales.

This ecotour offers some incredible scenery and wildlife viewing. The waters around the island are home to an abundance of marine wildlife with many pods of killer whales as well as humpback, grey and minke whales. Sea lions, seals, porpoise and a number of marine birds are also residents of the island.
